AJ Downing is a first class wordsmith originally from the small Michigan town of Eaton Rapids. While life and his music have taken him to heaven, hell and back over the last twenty some years, Downing’s first international Americana release didn’t come until February 2008 with the stellar River of Life. With the success of River of Life, Downing decided to pack up with his family and head for Austin, TX, the live music capitol of the world.
2010 brought us Way Back Home, Downing’s second effort and was recorded with his new Texas lineup and released under the name, AJ Downing and the Buick6. The album reached #30 on the Americana Music Association’s weekly top 40 chart, #11 on the FAR chart and a top ten at #9 on the EuroAmericana chart overseas.
AJ Downing has performed at the Blue Bird Cafe, Bluegrass for the Greenbelt, Sam’s Burger Joint, Cheatham St. Warehouse, Gruene Hall, Poodie’s Hilltop, Jovita’s, Patsy’s Cowgirl Cafe, the Bandera Saloon and many other honky tonks between Texas and Michigan. He is currently in the latter part of making a new record and plans to have a single released from that album this fall . . .
